I don’t quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They’re not enough

The Killers – Sam’s Town Album Review

November 10, 2006

I loved the previous album from The Killers and bought this one after i heard the single “When You Were Young”. I haven’t made up my mind quite yet about this Sam’s Town. This is what have to say about the album.

The Killers five-million-selling debut, 2004’s Hot Fuss, saw the stylish Las Vegas quartet mining inspiration from its favorite ’80s British acts Duran Duran, the Cure, and the Smiths. On its follow-up, the group turns its focus homeward. First there’s the album title, Sam’s Town, which pays tribute to the old-school local casino where the band got its start. Then there’s the music inside, a collection of windswept rockers in the vein of Bruce Springsteen that leave the indie-disco vibe of “Mr. Brightside” in the desert dust. Working with producers Alan Moulder and Flood (best known for their work with U2, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails), everything here sounds bigger and shinier, with full-blown strings and choirs coloring epics like “When You Were Young” and “The River Is Wild.” Coming soon to a stadium near you. –Aidin Vaziri

November 9, 2006

Discovered this South African band yesterday on MK89 (local music tv channel), and i think they are extremely good. I hope they stick around for a while and land a record deal cause I would love to here more of them. You can download two of their songs on the downloads section of their website. Enjoy!

Here is there bio (in Afrikaans) from their website

Smartest man in the world

November 1, 2006

A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble.

In spite of the best efforts of the pilot, the plane started to go down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled to the passengers that they had better jump, and bailed out.

Unfortunately, there were only three parachutes remaining.

The doctor grabbed one and said “I’m a doctor, I save lives, so I must live,” and jumped out.

The lawyer then said, “I’m a lawyer and lawyers are the smartest people in the world. I deserve to live.”

He also grabbed a parachute and jumped.

The priest looked at the little boy and said, “My son, I’ve lived a long and full life. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live in peace.”

The little boy handed the parachute back to the priest and said, “Not to worry, Father. The ‘smartest man in the world’ just took off with my back pack.”

Great Writer

November 1, 2006

There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire to become a great writer.

When asked to define “great” he said, “I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!”

He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages.

Album Review – My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade)

November 1, 2006

I recently bought the new My Chemical Romance album, The Black Parade, and i think it is awesome!! This could possibly be my favourite album of 2006. Time will tell. This is what had to say about the album and the band.

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has alternately described his band’s third album as “completely over the top” and “borderline psychotic.” But even those words can’t adequately prepare fans of the group’s 2004 platinum major-label debut, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, for the onslaught of twisted song suites, glam-rock cannon fire and drama-club theatrics that make up The Black Parade. Tracks like “Mama” and “The End” make “Bohemian Rhapsody” sound like “Blitzkrieg Bop.” It’s no coincidence that the disc feels as dizzyingly monumental as Green Day’s American Idiot–after all, the two albums share the same label, producer, studio, janitorial team, and sense of apocalyptic dread. Similarly, The Black Parade will cast its creators in a completely new light. Despite its overly histrionic tendencies and a totally oddball cameo from Liza Minelli, it offers a clear signal that My Chemical Romance is ready to be taken seriously. –Aidin Vaziri
